Beards!

Here is Manny with some beard stubble I gave him last week.We also did full beards on each other in class today but since Chris Patrick did a beard on my partner/model already I ended up (with almost no time left) doing only Hannah’s eyebrows to match the beard. Tiny hand made from tiny hands

We learned how to sculpt tiny hands for our armature. There is something about it that scares me and I can’t figure out why. Maybe because it reminds me of those little dolls from the movie Tales From the Hood and makes me feel like it’s going to come alive and rip my skin open. And maybe because it reminds me of a baby fetus hand. Scary!

Nothing special

I was bored with my face so I did one of my favorite looks. Something simple and classic. I’m very awkward and camera shy so it will take time for me to get comfy in front of the camera instead of used to being behind it.

Yes, it is still winter

It’s been snowing even before I got here and it keeps snowing. Classes keep canceling and so far I’ve attended ONE class. Yeah, real annoying. Seems like everyone else from school feels the same way. We all want to go to class badly which is funny because typically kids love it when classes are cancelled. Shows how much fun and how much we love what we do and what we’re going to learn. Not only that, every time you miss a class, you’re throwing away $80. I don’t like the thought of that. But what can I say, it’s winter!

Have you seen our sister…she died

I can’t wait to go back to school and creep the shit out of people. What can I say… can’t help myself.
Okay, I’m not only excited for that. I really can’t wait to get into more messy work and serious stuff. Who the fuck has a class of hair and beards? Mold making and casting? Douglas does!

Big Bad Wolf

Way back during midterms our assignment in cosmetic make-up class was to pick a random fairy tale out of a hat and a film style. We had to create 3 characters of the story according to the film style we picked. Mine was Little Red Riding Hood zombie film style! We had to choose 1 character to do the actual make-up so I turned my model into a zombie granny.
I gained feelings for my other characters (Riding Hood and the Big Bad Wolf) I was was motivated to bring them to life when I get the chance. I wanted to make Jay into the Big Bad Wolf and I could be Little Dead Riding Hood. Last night I practiced doing the character on him. Since so far we’ve only learned how to do low budget effects I used morticians wax and latex to create the wolf structure. In a “real” situation I would make a prosthetic appliance but I will learn how to do that this semester coming up.
Like I said, this just a practice. Of course I need to add the ears, more hair, teeth, and clothes.
